Animated GIF
A GIF is one particular image file format. Today you'll make an animated GIF like the one above.

Do assignment #22.

Monday, April 17
Look at your web site feedback. Revise your personal web site

The latest grades include all assignments turned in before the break.

You should have a grade for your personal website if you ran the synchronize command in Dreamweaver. Many of you need to run it again to give me your latest work.

If you got a grade for your personal website then my feedback of your site is in your readable folder. Look at it and make changes to fix any problems that I noted. Look at the rubric for the assignment for more information.

Friday, April 7
Removing Objects from a Scene

Today you'll learn how to retouch photos as in this example where the bicycles and road were removed:

With bikes Bikes removed

Do assignment #21

Thursday, April 6
Catch Up Day

You have a substitute today.

Work on your Artifact Design Worksheet (assignment #19) or finish other assignments.

Wednesday, April 5
Reducing the Size of an Image

Today we'll start working with Fireworks. Some of you have already used it to prepare images for your personal web site.

Do Assignment #20.

I know some of you want to do more work on your Personal Web Site, but you must complete this assignment first.

Monday, April 3
Complete Personal Web Site

You should finish up your personal web site today.

Tomorrow we'll start learning how to use Macromedia Fireworks to manipulate photographs and create images.

On Friday you'll start working on the Artifact assignment. By Friday you must complete this simple design worksheet (Assignment #19) so that you're ready to go on the project.

Wednesday, March 29
Continue Personal Web Site

I'm seeing some really good work on your personal web sites. Keep going because they're due this Friday. Next week we're going to spend a few days learning to use Macromedia Fireworks and then start on the Artifact project. Think about what you want to use for your artifact!

Don't forget to credit all of your photos. For an example of proper photo credits, see the bottom of the Artifact project page.

Monday, March 27
Continue Personal Web Site

The personal web site is due this Friday, March 31.

The description of the Personal Web Site now has a rubric. This is how you'll be graded -- take a look!

All of your web pages in this class need to have a title. All images on your web pages need to have alt text. Click on the links to find out more.

I'll demonstrate titles and alt text today along with how to upload your web site to the outbox.

Everyone will have their picture taken today for their web site.

Tuesday, March 21
Personal Web Site

You have a substitute today. Please treat him or her with respect.

By this point you should have your paper layout done. Work on your personal web site. Use tables to lay out every page just like I showed you last week. You can also look at the Dreamweaver table tutorial.

Monday, March 20
Paper Layouts and Keeping Track of Sources

You should finish your paper layouts today. You must finish your paper layout before working on your personal web site. You must work on your personal web site today even if you have old assignments to complete.

You need to make a simple Word document to keep track of all the websites you get pictures from. See details in the assignment.

What are you doing for your Artifact project? Your assignment will be a lot like this one from last semester.

Wednesday/Thursday, March 15-16
Set up a Dreamweaver site for your home page

Once you're done with your paper layout (see yesterday), you'll start your personal web site.

Do these steps to get the site ready for your web site. Then start working on your home page and the other two pages in your site.

Each of your pages will use tables for layout. I will demonstrate how do do this in class. If you miss the demo then do the table layout tutorial.

You must complete assignment #17 before starting assignment #18.

Monday/Tuesday, March 13-14
Layout for your personal web site

Today you'll make a paper layout for your personal web site. See assignment #17.

Once this is done, you can start working on your personal web site.

Today you'll start figuring out what to put in your personal web site. Your web site will have at least three pages, which you'll need to fill up with words and pictures.

Do assignment #14, which is a short essay about yourself. It will help you figure out what to do with your personal web site.

When you're done you may finish other assignments or borrow my camera to take your photo for your web site.

Remember to study the vocabulary words for tomorrow's test!

Tuesday, March 7
Vocabulary
       and
Observation

Today we'll do two things:

  1. I'll hand out the vocabulary study guide for Thursday's vocabulary test and talk about the vocabulary words for about fifteen minutes

  2. We'll leave the classroom and do an exercise in observation and description

Remember to be thinking about what artifact you'll used for the Artifact Assignment. This is some object you bring from home that represents your family's culture, background, religion, a place your came from, or something else important to the people you live with.

Also, start thinking about what you want to have on your personal web site. You'll have a home page and at least two other pages that show things that are important to you. We'll start designing this page very soon.
