Uploading Files to the Remote Server

After you've edited files for you website that are stored in your My Documents folder, you'll want to copy them up to the server.

There are two ways to upload: one file at a time and the entire site.

To upload a single file, right click on the file and choose Put.

It's usually better to upload the entire site. Right click on the site's root (the very top file) and choose Synchronize...

Synchronize

If you're working alone then choose Get Newer Files for the direction. If you're working on a team project, choose Get and Put Newer Files for the direction.

Then click Preview...

Preview

This will show you a list of files that will be uploaded. Normally you should just click OK.

If you're working on a group project, you may also see a list of files to be downloaded that other people on your group have worked on. Sometimes there will be a conflict where you've changed the same file as someone else. You'll have to decide whether to upload your version to the server or download someone else's version to your computer.
